Two Bronto aerial platforms for municipal fire brigades in Norway
17 February, 2022Two municipal fire brigades in Norway have recently taken deliveries of new Bronto aerial rescue platforms. Lillehammer Region Brannvesen, a fire brigade serving the municipalities of Lillehammer, Øyer and Gausdal, has recently taken a delivery of a Bronto F42RLXER aerial platform and a new Bronto F32TLK aerial platform was delivered to Trøndelag brann- og redningstjeneste IKS, a local fire brigade serving the municipalities Trondheim, Malvik, Indre Fosen, Rennebu and Oppdal. Both units were delivered by Bronto Skylift’s local distributor Braco A/S in 2021.
F42RLXEX Lillehammer Region Brannvesen
The RLXER has a sturdier construction than the standard RLX-range aerial platform and provides more outreach and a larger working envelope. For example, the maximum outreach of a standard F42RLX is 2.5 metres, while Lillehammer’s new F42RLXER features an outreach of over 29 -metres. The maximum working height of the unit is 42 metres and the spacious rescue cage has a maximum capacity of 500 kg.
Lillehammer’s new F42RLXER is mounted on a Scania P500 B6x2*4NA chassis and is loaded with various customer-specific options. The platform’s optional equipment includes a Ziegler fire pump with 300 l/min water flow, radio remote controls for boom movements, an equipment locker for a generator and breathing air bottles mounted on the turntable, multiple working lights in the cage, cabin, turntable, chassis and decking and a 360° camera system.
With the new unit, the Lillehammer Fire Brigade can retire their old 32-metre Bronto F32HDT, delivered in 1992, from a long and faithful service life in the fire brigade.
F32TLK Trøndelag brann- og redningstjeneste
The F32TLK is a compact and easily manoeuvreable aerial ladder platform unit for an array of rescue and firefighting missions. It challenges conventional fire ladders and outperforms them as a significantly more efficient and versatile choice.
The delivered Bronto F32TLK aerial is mounted onto a Volvo FM 500 chassis and has a maximum working height of 32 metres, a maximum outreach of 23 metres, up-and-over capacity of 7.2 metres, a maximum cage load of 500 kilograms and weighs in around 22 tonnes. The unit is equipped with various equipment such as a Ziegler fire pump with 3000 l/min water flow, an equipment locker for a generator and breathing air bottles mounted on the turntable, a video camera mounted below the rescue cage and rescue ladder illumination via LED lights. The aerial platform is built according to new national standards in Norway.
The F32TLK is a welcome addition to the fire brigade’s fleet, as it is faster than their other two aerial platforms and provides versatility and safe performance for future firefighting and rescue operations.
The firefighters of both fire brigades received thorough training upon the delivery of the unit conducted by certified Bronto Skylift instructors.
