Bronto Skylift and W. Schnitger continue three decades of partnership
W. Schnitger GmbH is a leading German provider of access vehicles and platforms headquartered in Northeim, Germany. The company works with a wide range of partners to support its extensive product portfolio, which extends to commercial vehicles, mobile cranes, spider cranes, and various types of mobile and truck-mounted aerial platforms.
Beginning with a core team of 15 in 1991, Schnitger has built a group of 70 professionals that provide sales, rental and service for partners including Bronto Skylift. The firm is led by Daniel Wenzel, who started with Schnitger more than 20 years ago. He has served as CEO since 2019.
A long-term team
Schnitger has worked with Bronto Skylift for more than thirty years. Today, Schnitger is a full-service dealership offering access sales and rental for Bronto aerial platforms in Germany and nearby European countries, as well as service support for both the industrial access and fire and rescue segments.
Wenzel credits their success with the Brontos in Germany to their control system and rigidity at heights.
“The control system is much better than the other manufacturers. It’s much more stable. It’s also very strong, with two cylinders on the main boom. Most other manufacturers only have one cylinder. The quality of the Brontos are very high, and the customers like them.”

Over the decades, Wenzel’s team has built the expertise to do truck mounts, custom builds and long-term service in-house – they’ve become a one-stop shop for everything Bronto.
“We do everything from cylinder renewal to the 10-year service, which involves changing hoses, cables, painting… we do everything with Brontos. We also do service for the chassis, regardless of the manufacturer and we are service partners of MAN and Scania. So, from us, the customer gets service for the complete package.”

Expert help within three hours, 24/7
Schnitger’s facility in Northeim is the base of operations for their modern, efficient repair, maintenance and overhaul of access equipment. Careful maintenance can help a Bronto age gracefully over decades of service.
“Bronto used to sell much smaller units. We still have some customers who use 16-metre Brontos from the 80s. We also do the 10-year service on the Brontos for our customers. While that’s being done, we can rent them another aerial platform so they can keep working.”

The company also maintains a 24/7 emergency service team, with fifteen service vehicles, to solve problems quickly for their customers.
“We cover all of Germany and the nearest European areas – primarily Spain, Italy and France – with our mobile mechanics,” says Wenzel. “We have 15 mobile trucks to go to customers. We’re located in the centre of Germany, so we only need three hours to get to any area in the country.”
A stable platform for growth
In 2019, the NuFaTec Service Group was founded by Daniel Wenzel. In addition to Schnitger, other companies in the commercial vehicle technology, freight forwarding and truck rental sectors also belong to the group. The merger under NuFaTec has provided a stable platform for growth in the broader vehicle industry, and secure financial backing for W. Schnitger, the Bronto arm of the business.
Now, Wenzel and his team of around 200 employees are busy with ongoing access projects and a planned expansion of the Schnitger service & sales. Otherwise, he has his eyes on the next Bauma event, which will take place in Munich, Germany on April 7–13 2025.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the Bronto presentation at Bauma next year. I know I’ll be buying one new aerial soon for our rental service, and I hope it will work very well.”
