Delivering versatile aerial firefighting and rescue in Austria

The Stadl-Paura Volunteer Fire Brigade in Upper Austria operates in a region defined by dense development, narrow access routes, older buildings, waterways and a wide range of technical operations. The brigade needed a vehicle that combines reach with flexibility and versatility in every direction. With over 25 years of experience working with Bronto Skylift, they found their solution in a Bronto F32TLK aerial rescue platform that fulfils the challenging demands of their operating environment.

Compact design for demanding urban environments

With a working height of 105 feet, high rescue cage capacity and strong below ground level reach, the Bronto F32TLK significantly expands Stadl-Paura’s operational range. The unit has proven to be a valuable asset for both firefighting and technical rescue operations, covering a wide spectrum from traditional rescue tasks and firefighting to technical assistance and special scenarios.

“We invested about four years into the design phase. This allowed us to incorporate everything we’ve learned over the years and tailor the vehicle specifically to our region.”

Places like Stadl-Paura are a great example of how important compact vehicle layouts are in cities with narrow streets and complex firefighting scenes. The Bronto F32TLK aerial platforms has a compact design and high manoeuvrability that allows controlled operations in narrow streets, while providing reach and flexibility to reach façades, roofs and balconies.

“In Stadl-Paura, we have many narrow streets and access routes leading to larger buildings, and this is where we see a clear advantage in using the Bronto aerial platform.”

In Stadl-Paura, rescue scenarios are not limited to urban or structural environments. With the Ager and Traun rivers close by, below ground level reach is extremely important as embankments, waterfronts and hard-to reach areas along waterways regularly create demanding situations for rescue crews. The Bronto F32TLK can support rescue operations and technical assistance missions when conventional access is limited or unavailable.

“In areas where the riverbanks are difficult to access, we can use the platform to reach up to five meters below ground level. This allows us to recover the person safely, for example near the reservoir area of the power plant or close to the road.”

Versatility and performance

For fire brigades, versatility is not only about reach, but how widely the equipment can be used in different operations. Whether responding to fires, supporting rescue operations or assisting in technical missions, aerial platforms allow crews to adapt their approach without interrupting the flow of the operation.

“Our aerial ladder platform is a core part of our firefighting and technical operations. Its design makes it suitable for a wide range of operations.”

Partnership with Bronto as part of the solution

Emergency response depends on having equipment available at all times. To ensure the availability of their Bronto aerial platform, Stadl-Paura signed a service agreement with Bronto Skylift that focuses on maintaining performance and availability throughout the entire lifecycle of the unit.

By carrying out maintenance and inspections locally, the platform remains where it is needed, ready for use without extended downtime or relocation. Consistent maintenance, combined with access to expertise and support, helps ensure that the platform continues to meet operational requirements as they evolve. Rather than treating the platform as a one-time investment, the focus is on sustaining its value and performance over many years of service. For Stadl-Paura, this means knowing that their Bronto will remain ready for action today and well into the future.

“We are proud of this vehicle, which was tailored to our needs in collaboration with Bronto. I hope Bronto Skylift will maintain the openness to new ideas and the innovative spirit we experienced during the design phase, as well as the excellent, long-standing service partnership we have with the local branch.”
