Bronto Skylift Inc. hosts training event for North American distributors
31 July, 2024In early February 2024, Bronto Skylift Inc. (BNA), our North American subsidiary, organized a comprehensive training event for the mechanics of our North American distributors and partners. This event focused on equipping participants with essential skills in hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting, along with an introduction to the Bronto 5+ operating system. The training had participants from almost of all our North American dealers including Aspen Equipment, Hinkel Equipment Rental Associates, Excel High Reach, TRI-Lift and HOLT Aerial.
Expert training
The training was conducted by Kevin Dodson, a seasoned expert with over 11 years of experience working with Bronto aerials. Kevin is responsible for the majority of service, new machine installations, and new operator training at BNA. His extensive knowledge and hands-on approach provided valuable insights to the attendees.
In addition to the structured training sessions, the event also featured informative discussions among attendees. More experienced operators shared their insights and suggestions with newer operators, for example what to look for when troubleshooting an aerial platform.
“Having more Bronto trained technicians in the field will ultimately benefit our customers and keep their fleet operating at all times.”
Bruce Harrod, Account Manager, Bronto Skylift Inc.
The feedback from the attendees was positive and many participants expressed their appreciation for the depth of knowledge shared and the practical skills gained. The event generated interest in future training sessions, highlighting the importance of the topic and genuine interest toward operator and unit safety.
I received great feedback that a couple of the trained technicians immediately resolved issues that had been eluding them once they returned to their shop equipped with the new information. That’s the most rewarding part of training, getting to see someone put the knowledge I provided to use solving problems to make a difference for our customers!

Don’t forget daily checks!
Your Bronto aerial platform should be checked daily according to instructions in the manual. The inspection includes, for example, a visual inspection of the structures, the welds and, of course, checking the fault register.
A daily checklist goes through the basics and should always be completed before the aerial is used. This list does not replace the actual manual for the Bronto Skylift Aerial Platform. Always familiarise yourself with the manual related to your unit(s) as well as the local regulations.
